At the age of six, I developed polio and almost died two times while in
an iron lung, until the age of eight I was totally paralyzed, and was
one of  the very first of twelve to test the polio vaccine. At the age
of twelve I was able to walk with the help of braces and  crutches. The
doctors didn’t give me much hope of ever being able to walk because of
the after effects of polio, but I proved them wrong.

It’s amazing what you’re  able to do if you never give up or surrender
to other peoples' opinions, let the choices in your life be your own,
don’t let others dictate to you the path you take in your own life.  
 
At the age of sixteen I began my Disk Jockey career. Through years of
hard work and dedication received BILLBOARD MAGAZINE’s number #1 Disk
Jockey award for the Pittsburgh Area, three years in a row 1977, 1978,
1979.
 
In later years I received other awards and citations, Three Gold Records
from various record company’s for record promotion, an Award for Top
Furniture Sales, a Certificate of Appreciation from Columbia School Of
Broadcasting for a job well done.

Have done promotion parties for Dolly Parton, Wayne Newton and Ann
Margret also entertained at Three Rivers Stadium before and in between
Pirate Baseball home games.

Worked at three different radio stations WMBA, WARO and WNUF in the
Pittsburgh area, and in the 35 years of being an entertainer I have
worked at almost all major clubs in this area and have worked with these
area disk jockies Porky Chedwick, Mad Mike, Terry Lee, Charlie Apple,
Bob Mack, Zeke Jackson.

I run a site called "Oldies Unlimited" that is dedicated to the music
and lifestyles of the 50's & 60's, the site address is
"http://www.nb.net/~glarkin", in the past three years of operation I am
happy to say that I have made many friends, and feel as if in some small
way help to perpetuate the music that deserves to be around forever.

In Nov. 1997 I started my own disk jockey booking agency called "DJ's R
US", the site address is "http://www.djsrus.com", we specialize in
Weddings, Class Reunions, Car Cruises, Oldie Parties, Graduations or any
entertainment event.

I have a passion for life and a total devotion to what ever project I am
working on. I've accomplished much in my life through hard work and
having a belief in his ability to achieve what ever I set out to do.

Only by maintaining a positive mental attitude will you ever succeed in
life, never  make the mistake of letting anyone steal your dreams by
dictating to you what you can or can’t do.
 
Just believe in yourself and work hard for your goals, never forget that
it’s your life and it should be your choice what you do with it.
