To our fellow Baby Boomers,
Well it has happened again. The new fall television season has been announced and as has been the norm Boomers are being ignored as a viable audience. Those of us between the ages of 40 and 58, who stand at 76 Million strong, have been pushed aside for the standard demographic of 18-34 year olds. Just a few facts: Boomers born between the years 1946 & 1964 control "7 Trillion Dollars" of disposable income, which equates to 50% of all disposable income in the United States. Yet only 5% of advertising dollars are directed at our generation, mostly for medications and aging products. As 76 Million of us stand ready to tune in for television that has some meaning to us, the Networks continue to target our children, who by the way get or got their purchasing power from us. This must stop!
We need your help! In an attempt to educate the television networks that Boomers are a viable audience and worthy of programming that has meaning to us. We have created programs that are specifically directed to our generation and have consistently run into the same response from development people at the networks, "This seems to be targeted to an older audience and doesn?t fit into our programming demographics" Keeping in mind that these executives are themselves in their twenties and thirties they have no concept of our vast numbers and financial power, instead are only focused on their own peers. Our projects include topics that are meaningful to us. They consist of topics that focus on the life changes that we have experienced. From the music of the sixties and seventies, political, social and personal changes that have shaped our generation, to our own dreams and desires for humanity. If you would like to help please respond to this letter. We will use these responses to further educate the networks that Boomers are alive and kicking! And deserving of programming directed to us. Again we need your help!

One area that I feel does reach and program to the Boomers is radio. Not all markets are as fortunate to have a well designed 35-65 format that presents the music of our generation to accomodate a busy lifestyle.Plus reach them when they are most likely to buy, during the day.
What are your thoughts?
