SECTION ONE - FROM THE EDITOR!
Big news! We are almost ready to debut a new website
that will bring Boomers International, and all of our current
and future members well into the new Millenium! Our staff
(yes we now have executive staff! Can you believe it??) has
been working daily to bring you a bigger, better, and more
value packed Boomers International website. You will be very
surprised by the new services and content we have included.
But I need all of you to please write me as we move forward,
and let us know what you like, and what you may not like
as much. After all, it is for you. We have been heartened by
your positive response to what we are trying to do. We believe
that you have a vision of what you want on the net. We have
heard your wish for more spiritual areas, as well as business
and gender issues.
We intend to continue the areas you have used most, and add
many more. I will send you a personal invitation to our new
debut, and ask that you let me know what you think. I know
you'll be as excited as I am now.
As we move firmly into the new millenium, we here at Boomers
International have dreams of service and connections far
beyond what we have done in the past. And we invite you
to join us, as we try to make this ever shrinking world, a little
bit better.
So let me close this and wish you continued Peace, prosperity,
and most of all Love in your life.

SECTION TWO: SPIRITUALITY
"I believe that as spiritual beings on a journey in a
physical world, we are here to learn and grow into
wholeness. From a cosmic view, each thing that happens to
us, whether we perceive it to be "good" or "bad", has an
underlying meaning with positive intention. Even the most
tragic crises of our lives can enhance the development of our
souls if we learn to see them as lessons and opportunities
instead of as mistakes, accidents, bad luck, or punishment.
I believe that the physical world is a mirror of the world within
us, and that the principles explaining the functioning of the
universe are the same as those that guide our inner lives.
For example, the Hermetic Principle of Polarity, which states
"Everything is Dual: everything has poles; everything has its
pair of opposites..." applies both to the physical and meta-
physical worlds. The ancient adage, "As without, so within"
is another way of expressing this relationship. One implication
is that if we want to gain a better understanding of events in
the outer world, we should reflect on the events of our inner
lives. "
Jean Raffa is the author of The Bridge to Wholeness:
A Feminine Alternative to the Hero Myth and Dream
Theatres of the Soul: Empowering the Feminine through
Jungian Dream Work. Her work focuses on spiritual and
psychological growth, the empowerment of women,
generating reverence for the feminine principle and
creating partnership between masculinity and femininity.
Besides practicing this in her daily living, she shares this
with others through her writing and speaking engagements.

SECTION THREE: WOMAN
ARE YOU A RULE-BREAKER?
WIN A TRIP FOR TWO TO THE MEXICAN CARIBBEAN!!!
Sourcebooks, Inc. is looking for a rule-breaking,
torchbearing, unconventional woman who most
exemplifies the spirit of The Women Who
Broke All the Rules (by Susan Evans &
Joan Avis ISBN 1-57071-428-2)!
This book features the remarkable stories of 100
women who chose their own paths in life, with no
role models to follow, and ended up turning tradition
on its ear. These are the women who asked not only
"Why?" but "Why not?". Why can't I be a doctor or
a lawyer? Why can't I be a pilot or a business
executive? And simpler questions like: Why can't I
send flowers to a man? Why can't I wear pants in
the workplace? Why can't I live on my own?
These women weren't thrill seekers, nor were they
looking to forge new paths, they just wanted to live
their life their way. And to do so, they had to make
choices that the women before them had not made.
Look around, surely you know these women -- your
friend, sister, mother, aunt, daughter -- or yourself!
The winning entrant will be rewarded with a fabulous
trip to the beautiful and exciting Mexican Caribbean in
a private beachfront casita. But that's not all.....$500
will be awarded to the bookstore that sends in the
winning entry. For entry forms and details, contact
your local independent bookstore.
If your bookseller isn't already participating in the
contest, he or she can call 1-800-43-BRIGHT x271
and ask for Dianne. The contest begins in March,
Women's History Month, and runs until May 31, 2000.
The winner will be announced on Independence Day.

Children of '60s share love for candy
By Craig Wilson, USA TODAY
Valentine's Day is long over. Easter is two months away.
What's a candy lover to do? Go down memory lane, perhaps.
Remember wax lips and wax bottles, Atomic Fire Balls,
candy cigarettes and bubble-gum cigars? Groovy Candies
has them all.
"Blast from the past" boxes of candy are starting to
show up on the celebrity circuit. Matt Lauer of NBC's
Today got a box from Bryant Gumbel of CBS' The
Early Show as a Christmas present, then turned around
just this month to give a box to talk-show host Rosie O'Donnell.
"I became obsessed with creating the world's first collection
of the best baby-boomer candy," says Cleveland entrepreneur
George Schauer, who now packages that candy .
Each 3.5-pound box holds more than 40 hard-to-find candies
from the '60s that still are produced today.
A Sugar Daddy never tasted so good.
Boxes sell for $24.95, plus $6 for shipping and handling.

Women today commonly complain that their partners are
no longer romantic, while men wonder what is wrong
when they no longer feel attracted to their spouse.
In reality, romance doesn't happen automatically-or just on
Valentine's Day, for that matter. Passion is in the details.
To experience it 365 days a year, you'll have to be attentive,
creative, and loving. Every little thing we do or say has a
cause and effect. With that in mind, here are five romantic
resolutions you can make that will nurture and strengthen
your relationship this coming year:
