To Do on PCH

I am planning on drving from SF to LA via the PCH and have a few quick questions.
- How long is the ride
- Where to stop along the way for sight (big Sur, Hearst Castle)
- Where to stop and spend the night? Is there a particulrry good area/hotel or shoud I just choose one?
