It is very difficult to find out the exact number for population of the hippies from 1960-1969.
However, this site estimated that in the beginning, there were about few hundred thousands
and the population grew to about 8,000,000.
Around the world, it would be much higher, I would estimated to about 20,000,000 total.
Considering there were and are hippies in Europe and Asia as well.
